Lydia Martin

art inspired by emotion

ABOUT THE ARTIST: Lydia Martin

Although my profession was a graphic designer, my roots were in traditional arts. I have always loved and appreciated drawing and painting and grew up with an artistic mother who taught me everything she knew. About four years ago I decided to drop my professional career as a designer to go back to my roots. I took up figurative painting and haven't looked back since. Well, I may have looked back a few times, especially with the way the economy has been suffering. But I made the commitment to follow my calling and that has made all the difference.

Being a newbie in this industry, I feel like I am still learning how to use my artistic voice and developing my skills along the way. I work mostly in acrylics, pencil and charcoal but dabble in oils and watercolor, as well. I try to pull ideas from emotional experiences that is common to so many, but especially women. I have been lucky to show in many galleries and venues in the San Diego and Los Angeles areas and have sold my art world-wide.  I am always looking for new places to display my work so if you are a gallery owner or know of an artist's venue that might be  interested is showing my art please contact me at martinscape@yahoo.com.

I am also open for commissioned work.
